Privacy policy
Last updated October 3, 2026. Draft: being reviewed by a lawyer.
This policy explains what personal information Development Hub handles, why, who it's shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone whose information is in Development Hub, including players, clients and their parents who never sign in themselves.
1. Who is responsible
Each team or coaching business that uses Development Hub (the “platform”) decides what information to keep about its players and is responsible for it. Development Hub stores and processes that information for the platform, following its instructions and this policy. For your own account, and for the rest of this policy, Development Hub is responsible. Our privacy contact is hub@developmenthub.ca.
2. What we collect
- Accounts: name, email address, a scrambled (hashed) password, which platforms you belong to and your account type.
- Player and client profiles: what the platform enters, such as name, team, position, birth date or year, and, where the platform adds them, contact and family details.
- Development records: logged interactions, notes, video clips, tags, comments and focus items.
- Parent approvals and permissions: the parent's typed name and the date they approved an account, and any marketing permission given or withdrawn.
- Agreements: which version of the Terms of use and this policy you agreed to, and when.
- Technical information: IP address, browser and device type, and times of requests, kept in our providers' logs to run the service and keep it secure.
3. Why we use it
- To run Development Hub for your platform: show records to the right people, play videos, and send invites and notifications.
- To keep it secure: sign-in, the "prove you're human" check, and finding misuse.
- To fix problems and improve the product, using usage information and content with identifying details removed.
- In Development Hub marketing, only for players who have given permission (or whose parent has), as described in the Terms of use.
We never sell personal information and we don't show ads in Development Hub.
4. Children and teens
- Private coaching platforms: a client under 13 holds nothing but a name until a parent or guardian approves the account. For clients 13 to 17, the parent approves first and then decides whether to send the client their own login.
- Team platforms: the team is responsible for having permission to keep its players' information, including from parents of players under 18.
- A player or client sees only their own profile and what was shared with them. Parents see exactly what their child sees.
5. Who can see it
- Inside a platform: the people the platform owner adds, following the account types described in the product. Staff notes, comments and contact details are never shown to players, clients or parents.
- Never: other platforms. Each platform's information is kept separate in the database itself.
- Development Hub staff: only when needed to run or fix the service, or when a platform owner asks us for help.
6. Service providers
We use these companies to run Development Hub. They only handle information to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: database, accounts and photo storage.
- Vercel: hosting the website.
- Mux: storing and playing videos.
- Resend: sending emails.
- Cloudflare: the "prove you're human" check.
These providers store and process information in the United States, so it may be accessed by US authorities under US law.
7. Cookies
We use only the cookies Development Hub needs: one that keeps you signed in, and one that remembers which platform you last opened. No advertising or tracking cookies. The “prove you're human” check may set its own cookie to do its job.
8. How long we keep it
We keep a platform's information while the platform uses Development Hub. Nothing is deleted automatically: players are archived rather than deleted, and deactivating an account keeps what that person logged, so a player's development history stays complete. When a platform owner asks us to delete their platform, we delete its information within 30 days, apart from backups, which are removed on our normal schedule.
9. Your choices and rights
- Ask to see or correct your information: ask your platform's owner, or email us.
- Withdraw marketing permission at any time on your profile.
- Ask us questions or make a complaint at the address above. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
10. Changes
If we change this policy in an important way, we'll tell you and ask you to agree again. See also the Terms of use.
